Day 2
On the second day, it was finally sunny and warm so the Tidwell, Ewell, Guymon, and Wilson clan headed up to Snow Canyon. We spent a few hours there hiking up rocks and seeing some of the engravings of frontiersman who had engraved their names in the rocks back in the 1800's.

The second trail we went on was too the petrified sand dunes. This was a picture I took overlooking the valley. I just love the contrast of the red rock on the green grass and white rock. It was a sight to behold.
Here is the crew up by the DIXIE painting. We were all enjoying the view of the St. George Valley. I actually found out where St. George got its name. There was a man named George Smith who would plant crops of potatoes along the Mormon trail so the pioneers would have something to eat on the trek. When they got settled into the Salt Lake Valley he was called by Brigham Young to go down to St. George to start up crops. Well when the potatoes were ready to eat, he would always give his family the inner part of the potato and he would eat the skin. (He thought that the skin was the worst part and he didn't want to make his wife and children eat it). Five or six of his children had passed away from the same disease and he had always been healthy and he wondered why? He discovered that the peel of the potato was the most nutritious part and so from then on he told all of the people to always make sure and eat the entire potato. From then on, he was known as the "Potato Saint" and so that is where "Saint" George got its name. I found that interesting.
I know it is a little weird that I just took my picture by a palm tree, but this one was on the St. George Temple grounds and I just love palm trees. They are the closest I can get to feeling like I am on a beautiful beach in Hawaii!

Me, Myself, and I's trip to St. George
So for Easter weekend my family and my aunt and her family were planning on going to St. George on a minor getaway. The sad part of the story is Travis wasn't able to come because he was bogged down with end of the year tests, so he had to stay home and study. This was the first time I hadn't seen him for a whole day, and although I was having fun, I wished he could have been with us to share in all the fun.

We went to the old tabernacle and this was at the pulpit where all of the Prophets have stood and given speeches except Joseph Smith
Because it was rainy all day Saturday, Shannon, Josh, and I went to visit some historic sites. The first one we stopped at was Brigham Young's home. The green and pink were the original colors of the home. Now you may be wondering, why wouldn't they (Shannon, Josh, and I) go shopping since it was raining....well the answer is, we are both poor. So the free tours sounded great!
For lunch we ate at The Pizza Factory, which is one of our traditions everytime we go to St. George, because the one in Salt Lake just doesn't cut it. We had the BBQ Chicken and the Chicken Garlic Ranch pizzas and of course, the breadtwists. So Delicious!!!

My Realization
As I sat today, by myself cooking dinner and watching the NCAA Championship, I remembered something from August. When we were at the White Coat Ceremony, where Travis was sworn in as a student pharmacist and he was welcomed into the University of Southern Nevada School of Pharmacy, the Dean said something that at the time I didn't believe could be true and I didn't want it to be true, but I am realizing it is definitely coming true. He said, "Give up your spouse for three years, we will need him for that whole time, and when that three years is over, we will give him back." Well everyone kind of chuckled thinking that it was some sort of joke, but it is not. I do have to add that although this might just be the most trying time of my life, I am blessed enough to have such a wonderful husband who wants to be successful and make a good living for our future family. He puts in endless hours of hardwork and I am so grateful for all his motivation. I love you Trav!
Blogging Here I Come
Well I decided to jump on the bandwagon of blogging. I love to look at everyone else's and keep updated on their lives. So I thought that maybe my family and my friends, might be interested in keeping up with all the many wonderful and adventurous things Trav and I do. (School, work, church, housework) Okay, so maybe right now it's not all that adventurous, but I'm sure I can find some interesting things to share. Hope you enjoy!
