Megan's Baby Shower

April 23, 2011- Megan's Baby Shower

We are so excited that my sister-in-law and brother-in-law are expecting a BaBy BoY!!! We had a baby shower for her this last week.  We went to lunch at Carino's.  It was my first time ever going there. I got the chicken fettuccine that came with a side salad and bread.  It was delicious!  We had a fun time talking about the baby coming.  We also were all laughing as Marian recounted the stories of all her kids and the crazy things that happened while Adam, Laura, and Jaime were babysitting. Sounds like the Guymon household was a little more crazy than my house growing up :). We had a great time chatting.  The people who came were Megan, Marian, Laura, Jaime, Kenya, Alanna, Ashlee, Paul's mom, and me.

While we were gone enjoying lunch, the men (Paul, Cody, Ray, Mark, Travis, and Paul's Dad) were busy taking care of the kids (Keith, Colin, Camden, Miles, and Avery).  They had pizza from Papa John's for lunch and then took the kids to the park.

When we got back, Megan and Paul opened their presents from everyone.  We also all went in on a nice stroller and car seat the Megan wanted for the baby. There was of course plenty on snacks to eat and also a fruit tray. We definitely enjoyed having most of the Guymon family gathered again because we hadn't all been together since New Year's. I guess that is how it goes where everyone doesn't live super close together.  We definitely missed Adam and Heidi!

I forgot to mention that they are naming him Evan.  Before they knew if it was a boy or a girl they were going to name the baby Evan either way.  But I think they were planning to spell it differently if it was a girl.  So we are so so so exciting for Evan to arrive in May!!! Paul and Megan are going to be great parents too! I'll make sure to post pictures when he comes. :) I really can't wait for him to come.  I haven't been around a little baby for about 4 years.  This is ExCiTiNg!

Mark has been called to serve in....

Morristown, New Jersey!
Mark Guymon

Trav's little brother Mark received his mission call on April 20th.  He is going to be headed to the MTC on July 27th.  It will be an English speaking mission.  He is really excited and anxious to go.  He was actually a little disappointed he has to wait 3 months to leave, but at least this will give my mother-in-law plenty of time to get him prepared. We are all very excited for him and are very proud of his choice to serve the Lord for 2 years and bless the lives of many people in New Jersey!

A "Suite" Time

Wednesday, April 13, 2011

The final game for the Utah Jazz for the season.

Utah Jazz vs. Denver Nuggets (107-103)

Wells Fargo has a suite at the Energy Solutions Arena and me and Trav have been lucky enough to get to go to a preseason Jazz game this year and this game.  I was offered the tickets at about noon the day of the game and we were both really excited that we got to go again.  Even though the Jazz started off the season awesome and then have slowly struggled while losing Jerry Sloan and D-Will, we were hoping they could atleast pull out a win for the last game of the year because they didn't make it to the playoffs.  They didn't let us down!!!  With the rookie Gordon Hayward scoring a career high of 34, they won!
It is so fun to sit in the suite because you get a nice free meal with the best vanilla ice cream EVER for dessert. You also are at center court looking towards the team benches, and President Monson is usually sitting in the suite just to the left of this one.  We got to see him again.  The first game we went to this season he winked at me, and this game me and Trav waved and he smiled and waved back.  It is unfortunate we didn't get to actually shake his hand, but I am sure he wanted to enjoy the game just as much as we did.
Because it was the last game of the season they did a fan appreciation ball toss after the game.  They were throwing out these balls that were signed by the players.  Apparently they sling shot this up to us because it came at a rapid rate and I got it.  I was surprised to see it was signed by Jeff Hornacek!!(He is the shooting coach for the Utah Jazz). We had a great time at the game and we would like to thank Wells Fargo for letting us go!

Chris and Christina's Wedding

Chris and Christina Meyers April 1, 2011

Chris was Trav's best friend growing up.  They lived right next to eachother.  We were lucky enough to get invited to their sealing at the Draper Temple.  It was the first wedding we have been to at the Draper temple and like all sealings, it was really special.  It is always nice to hear of the blessings and promises that Trav and I have made and to be reminded of how happy and blessed I am to have Travis FoReVeR!!!  I am so glad I have always had the gospel in my life.
The beautiful bride and groom!  Chris wouldn't take his eyes off her all day.

It was the perfect day for a wedding. It was about 68 degrees and the nicest day of the year so far. It wasn't too hot and it wasn't too cold.  These kind of days are few in Utah. I was so happy to sit and take in the sun and get a day off of work to spend with Trav and to share with Chris and Christina.  After the sealing and pictures, they held a luncheon.  The food was all catered by a lady in Trav's parents ward.  She had made homemade chocolates that were to die for!  Christina read a poem that she had written for Chris and Christ read a cute love poem that someone else had wrote, but he meant every word.

We were happy to have a surprise visit by Ray, Marian, and Mark.  We definitely don't get to see them as much as we like, and we enjoyed visiting with them until we needed to head off to the reception.  We found out that Mark has submitted his papers and should be receiving his mission call in a couple of weeks.  We can't wait to see where he will go and we are very proud of his choice to serve the Lord.

We went to the reception that was held at Christina's parents home.  They had a photobooth where all the guest got their pictures taken.  They would put the strip of pictures in a book and then you signed by your pictures.  They also gave you a strip of the pictures to keep.  (I will hopefully add those to this soon). I thought it was such a cute idea and it was tons of fun!!  We also found out that apparently Christina grew up in the ward we currently live in, before her family moved to Draper 10 years ago.  So there were people at the reception from our ward.  Such a small world!  I also got to meet two childhood friends (Chad Bingham and Mark Olsen) of Travis as well.  It was fun to talk to them and get to know them a little bit better.  Below is the picture of the nice surprise that they left on ALL the guests cars.  Maybe they thought it was a good April Fool's joke, but I guess me and Trav can still pass as newlyweds ;).

We enjoyed the day celebrating Chris and Christina's wedding!!!
