My Husbands Back!

So as most of you know, my husband has been "gone" to Pharamacy School for the past 2 years.  He has lived and breathed studying the whole time.  This second year has been worse than the first. The first year it was a test every other week and so there would be some weekends that we called his "free weekends" where we could actually go do something because he felt like he could step away from studying for a little bit.  This year is a totally different story.  It has been a test every week and papers to add inbetween all of it.  Most nights, he was up until 2am.  I don't even know how anyone's brain would work at 2am, but apparantly he had no choice. Any event or family gathering I went to I got asked the same question, in which I gave the same reply.  "Where's Travis?" "Studying." I cannot even tell you how many times I said the word studying to other people.  I am so DONE with that word for life!!!

The joyous day came last Thursday when he passed his end of year final!!! It was such an exciting day!  Trav called me after to tell me the good news and I could just hear the sound of relief and happiness in his voice.  He has been overwhelmed with "I have to pass this test" for the past 2 years and that has ran through his head atleast 50 times (As he has taken atleast 50 tests).  It is just insane, but to have my happy, stressfree husband back has been the greatest thing ever!

It is funny how things work out.  I didn't love the fact that I had to work full-time and take 9 credits a semester, because that was all I could handle.  I didn't love it because it meant it would take me one extra year to get my degree than if I could take 12-15 credits a sememster. When I look at it now, I consider it a huge blessing that I was in school and working.  It all makes sense.  Heavenly Father knew that if I wasn't busy, I would be very sad and lonely, and that would give Travis just one more thing to have to worry about.  Although there were sometimes when I found myself feeling like a widow, I was for the most part busy busy busy. So now I just graduated and Trav just got done with his hardest year in Pharamacy School and it all happened within 3 weeks of eachother.  It just worked out perfectly.

The little things I enjoyed doing with Trav the past weekend....
-Making cookies together
-Getting his opinion while shopping
-Scheduling our shuttle from the airport to the port for our cruise
-Going on a joy ride together and signing in the car
-Going to a nice dinner at Market Street Grill and not having to worry about how long we're there (He has been randomly saying, "Those crab cakes were SOOO good." for the past 3 days..lol)
-Giving eachother foot massages while watching TV
-Having the time to laugh and joke around
-Going to his sister's and playing a game with our 3 little nephews
-Sitting and visiting with my family

It was all the little simple things we did together this weekend that made it so special.  I didn't realize how happy I would feel when Trav said, "We can do that together this afternoon."  To hear him say together was one of the greatest things I have heard.  "Together" is what I always want to hear.  I think that the day he got done with his 2nd year was very close to topping one of the best days of my life.  I'm glad to have my wonderful husband back!

A Feeling of Accomplishment

Today was a great day.  One that I have been looking forward to for 23 years, but mostly for the last 5 years.  I guess what makes it so special is it ranks as completing one of my big goals in life.  The first one was getting married in the Temple and now I can check off the second one of graduating from college.  I guess you could say I have always been the type of person that makes school important in my life and I've always wanted to do my best and get good grades.
My dad showed me, about 2 years ago, the requirements to graduate with Latin Honors.  At the time, my GPA wasn't quite up to where it needed to be if I wanted to graduate Summa Cum Laude (Highest Honors).  It was a motivator to me, seeing that I was close, to do my very best my last 2 years so that I could achieve my new-found goal.  Thanks to all the encouragement from Trav and family and a lot of hard work, I was able to do it.  I graduated Summa Cum Laude, with a 3.95 Cummulative GPA.  I feel kind of weird sharing this in my blog because I don't want to sound boastful, but I guess I am just so happy that I was able to reach my goal, working full time, and keeping everything running at my house.  It is just a huge accomplishment for me.  I really thank my dad for believing in me in the first place!
Graduation Day~
So I guess I should explain a little more about the event.  So Trav and I got up at 6 o'clock to get ready so we could head out by 6:45.  We firstt had the whole graduating Class of 2010 Commencement Ceremony.  Danny Glover was the main speaker.  He talked a lot about politics and civic rights movements and I'll be honest it was more of a political speech, than a commencement speech.  I think we were all glad when he sat down.  The Valdictorian of Business School spoke on having creativity in life.  She did a great job.  After it was over, my grandma and grandpa Tidwell treated us to some famous Aggie Ice Cream.  We had to kill a lot of time because the Commencement Ceremony ended at 11 and the Business School's Graduation Ceremony didn't start until 4.  We ate lunch at Sizzler to celebrate.  We were also able to visit the grave of Trav's grandparents.  I only knew his grandma Alene, but I miss her dearly!  It was nice that we could do that in some of our extra time.
Then it was time for the big moment. The actual Graduation Ceremony.  The key speaker was Spence Eccles, who was the CEO and President of First Interstate Bank before it merged with Wells Fargo. He gave some great words of advise and encouragment. Then I became a true Utah State Unversity graduate.  I received my Bachelors of Science Degree in Business.

If you can see me, I am receiving my diploma from the Dean, Douglas Anderson.
Celebrating my accomplishment!

Famous "Old Main"

I want to thank everyone that was able to come, Mom and Dad: G&G Tidwell, Ray and Marian, G&G Ford, and of course Trav.  It was definitely a day to celebrate and I am so grateful for all of my family for supporting me through school.  It is a day I will truely never forget!
